I pitched a Forum Theatre project through Live Theatre Workshop’s Etcetera branch (which offers the space for two days in order to produce a show).
Utilizing Augusto Boal’s primary text and elaborations by David Diamond, a group of three actors and I worked on devising a short play to present as a forum. Our topic ended up being health and healthcare, as that was something we returned to time and time again.
The production was quite successful both nights, due to the passion and knowledge base of the audience, the realistic scenes we presented, and my role as joker. We had multiple spect-actors replace actors as the evening continued and we even had times when none of the original performers were on stage.
